The Britt Festivals has announced three music camps for the coming summer.
Britt will offer Ukulele Getaway, July 5-7; a chamber music camp called "Project: Beyond the Page," Aug. 12-17; and Rock Camp for its third year, June 17-22.
Ukulele Getaway is open to anyone, regardless of experience, even those who have never picked up a musical instrument.
It will include workshops for beginning, intermediate and advanced players. The camp also is open to all ages, 6 through adult (children younger than 12 must be accompanied by a parent).
Participants will finger-pick, strum, write, jam and, most of all, make music.
"Project: Beyond the Page" will feature the chamber ensemble Project Trio, which performed at Britt in October, and will build on the faculty's "F.I.R.E. Technique" (Fundamentals of Improvisation, Rhythm and Ensemble).
The camp is open to students ages 8-18 who play any acoustic instrument. Students must have two years of instrument instruction.
Rock Camp will be led by the Los Angeles-based independent band Raining Jane, which returns for the second year as faculty. Rock Camp is open to students ages 13-18 of all experience levels, including beginners. Students will gain hands-on experience in instrument instruction, songwriting, sound systems and band dynamics.
