  • Gary and Judy Gronemeyer of Eagle Point celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by exchanging vows Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at Shepherd of the Valley Catholic Church in Central Point. Father Mike Walker officiated the ceremony.
    Judy Sieferd married Gary Gronemeyer Feb. 23, 1963, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Cool Valley, Mo. They have three children: Jeffery Gronemeyer of Sacramento, Calif., James Gronemeyer of Eagle Point and Sharon Smith of Eagle Point.
    The couple married after Gary graduated from college with a degree in engineering. Gary had accepted a commission in the U.S. Army and was assigned to a combat engineer battalion in Germany. Their three children were born in Germany. In 1966, Gary was transferred to the 44th engineer group, which was doing military construction in Thailand to support the U.S. military effort in Vietnam.
    After Gary's military service, both Gary and Judy continued their education. Gary earned a master's degree in civil engineering and Judy earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. Over the years, Gary was transferred to many construction management positions in the U.S. and two assignments in Saudi Arabia. Judy taught middle-school students mathematics and science.
    After retiring, Gary and Judy moved to Eagle Point to be close to their children, James and Sharon.
