Patricia Mae Richey

Patricia Mae Richey, 89, passed away peacefully at Wynwood Wednesday, February 20, 2013, in Medford, Ore. She was born March 15, 1923 in Hanford, Calif. the daughter of Mary and Loren Barnes. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay area. Her first job after high school graduation was at the Emporium in San Francisco. In 1946, Pat enjoyed a long trip across the United States and Canada with her parents.

 

In January of 1950, Patricia and James L. Richey were married in Yreka, Calif. In the early 1950s she and Jim began a construction business in Winston, Ore. Pat managed the office and accounting for their business for over 30 years. The company grew to include property management and land development.

 

Pat served on the Winston Library Board for many years. She devoted many years to the Winston community and was very involved in her children's activities. Pat was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dillard-Winston and Medford. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed international travel, including three trips to China. During their retirement, Pat and Jim enjoyed time spent on the Oregon coast.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; her sister, June Wilson; brother, Barney Barnes; and son, Kent Richey. Patricia is survived by her son and daughter, Bruce Richey, of Ashland and Rebecca Maloof, of Morongo Valley, Calif. She was blessed with four granddaughters, Erin and Lauren Richey, and Mary and Sarah Maloof; and one great-granddaughter, Jayda Westmoreland.


Funeral arrangements are by Wilson's Chapel of the Roses. Interment will be at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Her graveside service will be held at Roseburg Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m. February 25, 2013.


In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in her name to C.A.T.S, P.O. Box 56, Medford, OR 97501.
