UPDATED: Fire destroys travel trailer

Updated 10:10 a.m. A fire destroyed a travel trailer in White City this morning, sending a woman to the hospital and killing her pet cat.

Crews from Jackson County Fire District No. 3 responded to a 911 call for a structure fire at 3:14 a.m. at 2575 Ave. A. Firefighters arrived on scene to find a fully involved travel trailer in the home's driveway. Two other travel trailers were next to it, one believed to be a residence, the other for storage.

"We had fire extend right into a second trailer right as we were arriving," said Capt. Will Clelland of Fire District No. 3.

Three engines and about 14 firefighters responded to the blaze. Crews spent about a minute extinguishing the fire's spread into an adjacent travel trailer. It took about 10 additional minutes to knock down the primary fire. A woman living in the burned up travel trailer was sent to an area hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. A juvenile, also living in the trailer, was unhurt. Their cat died in the fire. No firefighters were injured.

Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon logs show crews responded to a vehicle fire at the same address Sunday.

"Unrelated, we believe," Clelland said.

The fire's cause is still under investigation.
