    Chirnside gets top honor in the Skyline

  • North Valley's undefeated run in boys basketball was recently rewarded with a host of all-Skyline Conference honors, including player of the year for senior JJ Chirnside and coach of the year for Jeff Nelson.
    Chirnside, a 6-foot-9 senior post, was joined on the all-Skyline first team by teammates Cameron Lyon and Kevin Brazille. The Knights enter Friay's Class 4A state playoffs against Brookings-Harbor with a 23-0 record after going 10-0 in Skyline play.
    Chirnside provided a big impact on both ends of the floor for the Knights, averaging 17.6 points, 11 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.8 steals and an impressive 6.1 blocks per game during conference play.
    Lyon averaged 17.7 points, four rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.7 steals, while Brazille averaged 10.5 points, two rebounds, 2.8 assists and 2.8 steals for the Knights.
    Also earning a spot on the first team were Henley's Colby Mueller and Jack Mitchell and Klamath Union's Alberto Aispuro.
    Phoenix's Tyson Morris, a 5-9 junior guard, was a second-team selection.
