Register by Monday for Red Cross' Heroes Breakfast

Monday is the last day to register for the American Red Cross' seventh annual Heroes Breakfast, set for 7:20 a.m. Wednesday, March 6, at Bigham Knoll, 525 Bigham Knoll, Jacksonville.

The Heroes Breakfast honors those who've shown acts of heroism and compassion. Award recipients will be introduced with video vignettes that showcase their acts. Award categories include Youth Hero, Workplace Hero, Animal Hero, Education Hero, Professional Rescue/Public Safety Hero and Community Hero.

Check-in is at 7 a.m. Breakfast and the program begin at 7:20 a.m. The awards ceremony will conclude by 8:45 a.m.

SOU business students seek 2013 research projects

Southern Oregon University graduate-level business research students are seeking research projects for spring term 2013.

Students are prepared to design, implement and analyze a broad range of survey topics. Typical projects include target market surveys, employee benefit surveys, customer attitude and behavioral surveys.

If your business or nonprofit has research needs that could be addressed by these graduate students, submit topic requests to Donna Lane ( no later than Wednesday, March 20.

SOU library joins First Friday art walks today

Southern Oregon University's Hannon Library will start being part of the First Friday art walk March 1, opening its doors from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

During the opening, visitors can look at art and artifact collections on display in the library. Guided tours will be available every half hour from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Attendees can explore on their own, too.

Art on display will include paintings, historical photos and sculptures.
