  • Maurine Boesch Buettner Burks, 93, passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 in Eugene, Ore.
    Maurine Lucylle Boesch was born August 23, 1919, the youngest of 11 children of Anton and Lena (Salfisberg) Boesch, in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County, Minnesota. Maurine attended District 100 county school, graduated from Truman High School, and the Eitel School of Nursing as a registered nurse. Maurine married Arthur William Buettner January 5, 1942, in Webster City, Iowa. To this union three children were born; two sons, Arthur "Bill" William Jr. and Anton "Tony" Paul, and one daughter, Arliss Maurine.
    The Buettner family lived and worked in the Truman, Fairmont, and St. James areas before moving to Medford, Ore. Arthur passed away April 22, 1983, in Medford. Maurine later married George Burks. She continued her work as an R.N. at Rogue Valley Memorial Hospital until her retirement. She recently moved to an assisted living facility in Eugene, Ore. to be near her son, Tony.
    Survivors include her two sons, Arthur "Bill" and Tony Buettner; and five grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her two husbands; daughter, Arliss Knudson; parents, Anton and Lena Boesch; six brothers, Edward, John, Elmer, Richard, Clarence, and Luther; four sisters, Josephine Clow, Emma Pederson, Burnetta Brown, and baby Viola; many nieces and nephews.
