Roger Kelsoe, 69, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2013, of complications of COPD (emphysema), at Shea Family Care Magnolia in El Cajon, Calif.

Roger was born April 4, 1943, in Medford, Ore. to Warren M. and N. Jule Kelsoe, both deceased. The family lived on North Phoenix Road. Roger attended Lone Pine, Phoenix, and graduated from Medford High School ('61).

After high school, Roger followed a tradition working with he family's electrical contracting business for a time prior to enlisting in the Navy. He had a keen interest in electronics.

In 1964, Roger married Mary Daniels of Central Point, Ore. Together, they had one daughter, Karen. They divorced in 1967.

Roger enlisted in the Navy in 1966 and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He suffered a non-combat injury onboard ship that shattered his ankle which became a permanent disability. After discharge from the Navy he worked for Navy contractors in California and in Italy installing and upgrading radar and communication systems on Navy ships and shore installations.

In February 1974 he married Delores Silva and she survives. Together they had one daughter, Julia. Until his health declined, he lived in Santee, National City, and Chula Vista, Calif.

He was an active member of both the American Legion Post 434 and VFW Post 2111 in Chula Vista.

Survivors include his wife, Delores, of National City; daughters, Karen Harmon, of El Cajon and Julia, of Hawaii; grandsons, Noah Harmon and Markus Kurtz; brothers, Wayne (Trudy), of Bellingham, Wash. and David (Julia), of Farmington, N.M.; as well as numerous nephews and nieces mostly residing in Oregon.

Cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life and final burial of his cremains at sea will take place next January from San Diego. A monument will be placed at the Family plot at Butte Falls Cemetery.
