    Eagles' May, Chavez earn 5A SOH honors

  • Eagle Point had the girl and boy players of the year in Class 5A Southern Oregon Hybrid basketball.
    Sophomore wing Sydney May was so honored on the girls side, and junior guard Cesar Chavez was the top boy player.
    The hybrid is made up of Eagle Point and Ashland.
    Girls on the all-league first team were Eagle Point senior post Casie Johnson and freshman guard Adrienne Wood, and Ashland sophomore guard Georgia Williams, senior guard Sadie Kasiah and freshman guard Kasydie Winner.
    Eagle Point's Paul Bell was coach of the year.
    First-team selections for the boys were Eagle Point junior guard Jorge Quintero, senior post Kyle Zerger and sophomore guard David Barber, and Ashland senior guard RJ Atteberry and senior post Connor Kaegi.
