Allred shoots even par, tied for 95th

SANTIAGO, Chile — Jason Allred birdied the last hole to shoot even par in the first round of the Chile Classic on the Web.com Tour Thursday.

Allred, in his first tournament of the season, is tied for 95th place at the Prince of Wales Country Club.

He tees off today at 2:30 p.m. local time (9:30 a.m. PST) on the 10th hole with playing partners Mark Silvers and Nick Rousey.

Allred, starting on the first tee, double-bogeyed the par-4 second hole and bogeyed No. 8 to make the turn at 3 over. Birdies at Nos. 10, 13 and 14 got him back to even, but he made bogey-4 at the 15th before birdieing the par-5 18th.

Whee Kim of South Korea holed his first wedge shot of the day for an eagle, then birdied his next hole and proceeded to match the course record with an 8-under 64 to take the opening-round lead.

Kim closed his day with a pair of birdies and grabbed a one-stroke lead over Scott Harrington and Edward Loar.

Nearly perfect conditions on the 6,903-yard course that doesn't play to that length led to a bevy of subpar rounds and a scoring average of 70.315. A total of 57 players shot in the 60s and 94 in the field of 144 were below par.
