  • James Rodger Bottroff was born September 20, 1946 to Warren Joseph Bottroff and Violet Galloway Bottroff in Lompoc, Calif. He passed away peacefully at his home in the Applegate Valley. He attended Rogue River Elementary School, Lompoc High School, and Allan Hancock College. He married Carolyn Sterling in 1966 at La Purisima Catholic Church. They had two children, Elizabeth and Matthew. Jim worked in the family business, Lompoc Lumber, until he and Carolyn started Lompoc Transit Mix in 1974, followed by Valley Rock, Valley Ready Mix, and J&B Trucking. They moved to the Applegate Valley in 1991. They started Bottroff Construction and Bottroff Excavation, which their son Matthew continues to operate. Jim was active in Applegate Lions and the community.
