CORVALLIS — Jake Rodriguez went 3-for-4 with two runs driven in and Brandon Jackson held Texas State scoreless in 31/3 innings of relief to send the fourth-ranked Oregon State baseball team to a 6-3 win over the Bobcats in front of 2,927 fans at Goss Stadium Saturday.
Rodriguez singled in the third, fourth and eighth innings, driving in solo runs in the latter two at-bats. He pushed his RBI total to nine on the year and upped his average to .333.
Jackson, meanwhile, finished the game for the Beavers (14-0) and picked up his first save. The right-hander came on in relief of Oregon State starter Andrew Moore in the sixth and scattered just one hit while striking out five.
NO. 2 VANDERBILT 4, NO. 15 OREGON 2 — At Eugene, Tommy Thorpe held No. 2 Vanderbilt to two runs over six innings but it wasn't enough as No. 15 Oregon dropped a decision at PK Park.
Thorpe (2-2) gave up single runs in the second and third, while striking out five.
The Ducks and Commodores wrap up the three-game series today.
