Medford Fire-Rescue gets money

Medford Fire-Rescue has received a $1,000 stipend from the Home Fire Sprinkler Coalition to offer demonstrations of how home sprinklers stop fires.

The demonstrations will show two similarly furnished rooms, one protected by fire sprinklers and one without. People can see how quickly a fire can become deadly and how quickly a sprinkler can stop a blaze, officials said.

One demonstration will be for the Chamber of Commerce Leadership Class and one will be given during the department's open house in October.

The coalition selected 25 fire departments nationwide to receive money to educate people about fire sprinklers.
