The Ashland Blues Society settles in to its new home at 6:30 tonight at Howiee's on Front, 16 N. Front St., Medford.
The society suspended its popular blues jams at Roscoe's BBQ in Phoenix when the restaurant's co-owner Will Moore became ill and had to close the business. Jams are held on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
Tonight's host band is The Blues Society, the ABS's in-house band composed of singer/guitarist David Pinsky, with Tom Freeman, drums; Robert Ogle, lead guitar; Bill Fischer, bass, and Mark Howard on harmonica.
The host band plays the first set, then the stage fills with musicians who sign up for the jam. Drums, guitar amps, mics and PA system are provided.
The nonprofit blues society created in 2009 began its jam sessions at the Ashland Community Center in Lithia Park, then moved to Roscoe's in Phoenix, and now brings its traditional blues to Medford at Howiee's on Front's newly remodeled music venue.
There is no cover charge to listen, perform or dance along.
