KLAMATH FALLS — Oregon Tech's Taylor Schmidt has been chosen the Cascade Collegiate Conference softball pitcher of the week and the second straight week and the third time this season.
The 5-foot-9 senior from North Medford led the Lady Owls with three wins this past weekend — one over Concordia University on Friday and two over Northwest University on Saturday.
Schmidt improved her season record to 14-1 with a 1.72 ERA.
Oregon Tech is 23-6 on the season and 7-1 in conference. They climbed one spot to No. 8 Tuesday in the NAIA national poll.
The South Medford seventh-grade White team went 4-0 to win the Silver Division at the Oregon Middle School Championships March 9-10 in Bend.
South defeated Sherwood, Liberty, Cleveland and Bend, holding them to an average of 40 points per game.
Leading scorers for South were Martin Laupola (12.5 points per game) and Jaron Emerson (9.5).
