GRANTS PASS — Crater scored four fourth-inning runs, but the Comets' production stopped there and Grants Pass rallied for a 10-4 win in the Southern Oregon Hybrid softball opener for both teams Tuesday.
The Cavers (1-0, 1-0 SOH) erased a 4-3 deficit with seven runs in the fourth on seven hits. Stephanie Norrick's two-run single and Danielle Taylor's RBI double highlighted the rally.
"They exploded in the fourth and we compounded it," said Crater coach Chris Arnold. "They did a great job of putting the ball in play, and we had two walks and a couple of errors. They were defensive mistakes that blew up on us. But our kids responded pretty well. They came out and battled."
Aleah Stevens collected two hits and drove in two for Grants Pass.
Katie Britton homered for Crater (0-3, 0-1) while going 2-for-4, and Allie Winningham and Lauren Estremado each had two hits.
