Central Point police are searching for an man who robbed a 7-Eleven on South Front Street at gunpoint.
The suspect entered the store at 12:11 a.m. and brandished what appeared to be handgun, Central Point Capt. Brian Day said.
The clerk handed the man some cash from the register and the suspect left, heading in an unknown direction, officials said.
The man was wearing a blue hoodie, gray baseball cap, black jeans and black tennis shoes.
There was one customer in the store at the time of the robbery. This customer left the store before police arrived. Police are now wishing to speak with this man, who could prove to be a valuable witness, officials said.
Day said the robber faces serious felony charges if he is apprehended.
"The fact that he had a gun ramps it up for us," Day said. "We are working hard to find him."
The man could be charged with first-degree robbery, which is a Measure 11 crime carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 7 years, 6 months in prison.
