Two Ashland arts groups have received $1,000 Arts Recognition grants from the Oregon Arts Commission.
Dancing People Company got money to support marketing and outreach for the "Salon Series," studio performances that let an audience experience the development of new works. The commission commended the dance company's goal of offering meaningful dance experiences to a broad sector of the community.
Schneider Museum of Art got money to support the production of a new brochure describing the museum's exhibitions and offerings. The grant was awarded in recognition of new efforts to make the art museum's programs more accessible to Southern Oregon schools.
The Arts Recognition grant program was created to support the efforts of arts organizations that do not receive other Arts Commission funding, officials said. The awards go to groups that have a record of strong artistic programming, service and organizational capacity, and are working to advance marketing and outreach.
