Rogue Community College will have a club soccer team this fall following the RCC Board of Education's approval of the formation of a new team.
The team has been approved for a one-year period to gauge student interest.
There will be men's and women's teams, which will participate in non-league play against eight other community colleges in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges. The club will be sponsored by Associated Student Government and will have officers and a club advisor. Teams will be based out of the Redwood Campus in Grans Pass. Participants must be enrolled in RCC full-time.
Soccer coach John Timlin will head up the teams and coordinate fundraising, as no general fund dollars will be used to fund the teams.
"We hope this activity will be a boost to recruitment and a positive addition to campus culture, RCC visibility, and our connection to our communities," said Kori Bieber, RCC's vice president of student services.
