An event title and two Cascade Collegiate Conference qualifying marks on Saturday earned Southern Oregon junior Mikayla Garrard conference women's track athlete of the week honors.
Garrard posted season-best times in both the 200 and 400 meters, finishing first overall in the 400 and second in the 200. Her time of 25.67 in the 200 was .01 seconds off her career best and qualified her for the conference meet in May. Her 400 time of 57.92 was .14 seconds behind her career best and was also a conference qualifier.
She also competed on the Raiders' 4x100 relay team that finished second at the Chico State Wildcat Invitational.
Concordia's Sunny Powers, a former North Medford High player, has been chosen the CCC golfer of the week.
Powers, a junior and a returning NAIA first-team All-American, won her fourth tournament of the year with a 14-over 230 at the Corban Invitational last week.
Powers' even-par 72 on the final round was the lowest single-round score by four strokes. She went on to win the 54-hole event by 10 strokes. In 15 rounds, Powers sports a 77.0 strokes per round average in 2012-13.
