  • CENTRAL POINT — Police here have arrested the two men suspected of robbing the 7-Eleven on South Front Street at gunpoint last week.
Dylan James Sites, 18, a transient, and Kyle Louis Mellon, 19, of Medford, were lodged in the Jackson County Jail Wednesday night on first-degree robbery charges.
In addition, Mellon was charged with carrying a concealed gun and first-degree theft.
The men entered the 7-Eleven on March 21 and demanded cash from the clerk. They then fled the scene in a SUV.
The men were caught on surveillance videos inside the store. These videos were distributed to local media in an effort to identify the suspects.
Central Point police who were contacted late Wednesday did not provide many details about the case, but they did confirm that Sites and Mellon committed the robbery.
The first-degree robbery charge carries a mandatory minimum sentence of seven years, six months in prison.
This same 7-Eleven was robbed in July 2008. In that case, a suspect entered the store and pointed a handgun at the clerks before fleeing with an undisclosed amount of cash. That suspect was arrested by Central Point detectives after a Crime Stoppers tip.
Authorities ask anyone with additional information about the robbery or suspects to call Central Point Detective Lou Fulmer at 541-664-5578.
