The Brushed Cork, a new venture combining painting classes and wine-tasting at local restaurants and wineries, will debut Thursday, April 4, at Capers Restaurant, 35 N. Central Ave., in downtown Medford.
The second and third stops for owners Gigi Orr and Nancy Randolph will be Monday, April 15, at Two Hawk Winery on North Phoenix Road, and Saturday, April 20, at Taprock Northwest Grill, on the Rogue River in Grants Pass. Classes will run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The cost is $45 per person, which includes all supplies necessary to create the selected work of art, plus one glass of wine. Sessions are limited to 30 people.
Art teacher Cathy Dorris will provide step-by-step instructions and quick demonstrations.
They will work on selections such as Vincent Van Gogh's "Starry Night" and Gustav Klimt's "The Tree of Life."

The first of three, three-hour business-plan workshops by Southern Oregon University's Small Business Development Center is scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m., Thursday, April 4, at the RCC/SOU Higher Education Center, 101 S. Bartlett St., in downtown Medford.
The session covers executive summary, management, business description, services and products offered, market strategy, competition, location, personnel, financing and financial data requirements.
Additional sessions are set for Thursday, May 16, and Thursday, July 11.
