When the Scottish Rite Temple on North Phoenix Road sold, I was under the impression one of the local banks was going to open a branch. Can you tell me what's going on?

Rogue Federal Credit Union, which acquired the property on the southeast corner of the Barnett Road and North Phoenix Road intersection four years ago, has similar questions, Debbie.
The local credit union has been in expansion mode for some time, and the former Scottish Rite Temple location seemed like a perfect fit.
So far, however, the shoe hasn't fit.
The city views the surrounding Southeast Plan territory much differently than it does other parts of town, and what may have seemed a simple project at one time has become more complex.
RFCU hopes to build a roughly 2,500-square-foot office, similar to the one it operates in Eagle Point. But after planning hearings, not much has happened.
"As far as timing, we really don't have a timeline," said Matt Stephenson, RFCU's executive vice president. "It was our intent to already have something there."
One issue for the financial institution, Stephenson said, is the city's desire to place the branch right on the corner, which would limit parking.
"We're still determining what we're allowed to do," he said.
So, Debbie, it looks like we'll have to wait a while for building permits to be issued.
