Sarah Elizabeth Dance (Betty) was born September 26, 1917, in Muscatine, Iowa. Her family relocated to Selma, Calif. when she was an infant. She remained in Calif., married John Edward Higgins, and raised three daughters. John died in 1966. Betty also suffered the loss of her oldest daughter, Carlyn Jay in 1974; a grandson, Ryan E. Jackson, in 2012; and a nephew, Mitchell H. Davis, in 2011.

Betty was a resourceful lady. She owned several businesses and properties throughout her lifetime. She was a licensed hairdresser and at one time owned and operated a beauty salon. She was creative, loved traveling, crafts, reading, gardening, and family. In her later years she learned to use a computer and the internet was her way of keeping in touch. A book highlighting her life, titled Back Then, was written and published by her.

Betty remarried and became Mrs. Robert (Bob) H. Davis. Betty and Bob were married for over 40 years and spent most of their married life in Medford, Ore. They had many friends and family members to enjoy life with.

She passed away November 17, 2012, from a massive heart attack. Betty is survived by two of her daughters, Sharon Norvell and Janice Jackson; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She is missed by all who knew and loved her.

Robert Harley Davis Jr.

Robert Harley Davis Jr. was born January 7, 1924 in Redfield, S.D. After the untimely death of his father when Robert (Bob) was only 10 years old, the family moved to Glendale, Calif.

Bob graduated from Glendale High School in 1942 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy immediately. He served as a quartermaster on the U.S.S. Velocity, AM 128 Minesweeper until the end of WWII. Shortly after the war, he met his first wife, Beulah Elaine Dance, and they had two children, Mitchell Harley Davis and Robert Marshall Davis. Twenty years later they divorced, and Bob married Sarah Elizabeth Dance, Elaine's older sister. They were married for over 40 years and enjoyed many happy years together. He spent most of his work life in quality control for both Hiller Aviation and Ford Aerospace.

Bob suffered the loss of his son, Mitchell, in October, 2011; his grandson, Ryan, in early November of 2012; and then finally his wife November 17, 2012. The tremendous loss proved to be too much for this loving gentleman. Bob passed away two days after suffering a massive stroke February 21, 2013, at the age of 89.

He is survived by his son, Robert Marshall Davis; his step-daughters, Sharon Norvell and Janice Jackson; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Everyone who knew him will miss him dearly.

A memorial service celebrating his life, as well as his wife's, Sarah E. Davis, is being planned for sometime in the spring or summer, 2013.
