REI will host a presentation on the proposed Crater Lake Wilderness at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, at the store, 85 Rossanley Drive, Medford.
The presentation will focus on the 90 miles along the southern crest of the Cascades to the north and south of Crater Lake National Park. Proponents say that proposed wilderness will protect wildlife habitat and roadless areas of old-growth forest, as well as being a safeguard for the headwaters of the Rogue, Klamath, Umpqua and Deschutes rivers.
A brief history of Mt. Mazama and the Crater Lake area will also be included.
