  • The South Medford boys tennis team monopolized the singles wins, while Ashland took control of things on the doubles end of the two schools' 4-4 tie in nonleague action at South Medford High on Tuesday.
    Freshman Kylar Tosh downed Ashland's Grant Kahn, 6-1, 6-1, to lead the Panthers' singles charge.
    "Kylar is playing at a really high level right now," South Medford head boys and girls coach Hal Borg said. "In his first high school match he was very composed out there tonight and beat a nice player."
    Ashland's top doubles pairing of Max Burt and Michael Montes defeated Blake Bartlett and Tanner Johnson, 6-1, 6-3.

    GRANTS PASS 6, NORTH MEDFORD 2 — North Medford junior Spencer Ebert gained the lone singles victory for his team and the Black Tornado's No. 1 doubles pairing of Kyle Campbell and Ryan Hogan also won in SOH action at North Medford High.
    Ebert edged Nik O'Hara 6-4, 6-4, while the junior duo of Campbell and Hogan battled back to secure a three-set victory, 6-3, 2-6, 6-1 for North Medford (0-2 SOH).

    ASHLAND 6, SOUTH MEDFORD 2 — At Ashland, Ashland's doubles team swept all four matches in nonleague play at Hunter Park.
    Top-seeded singles player Ashley Knecht was a 6-2, 6-2 winner over South Medford's Kelsey Bartlett, while Hanna Greenberg and Vika O'Brien — the Grizzlies' top doubles pairing — won 6-0, 6-0 over Caroline Eledge and Kealani Creech.

    North's Jacqueline Bradford lost 6-3, 6-1 in No. 1 singles to Megan Wood.
