The Oregon Department of Transportation will provide information on the Kane Creek Culvert Replacement Project at a public open house from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the Gold Hill Moose Club, 9713 Old Stage Road, Gold Hill.
The project is intended to replace a rusting culvert with a new bridge. The culvert is under the access road between Exit 40 and Old Stage Road.
The bridge will use precast girders and supports, which project officials say will speed the project.
Instead of working through the summer construction season, crews will work four days this month to put in bridge pilings. Custom-made bridge components will be constructed off-site, then installed and paved during a 10-day closure in July. All work should be done by early August.
Starting April 23, Interstate 5's southbound off-ramp at Exit 40 and the short connection between the exit and Old Stage Road will be closed for four days. Then, after July 4, the Exit 40 southbound on- and off-ramps and the connection between the exit and Old Stage Road will be closed for 10 days.During the closures, southbound traffic will be able to use Exit 43, and drivers will use Lampman Road and Old Stage Road to bypass the construction site.
Disabled individuals who want to attend the meeting should call Gary Leaming — at 541-774-6388 — 48 hours beforehand for accommodations.
