Ashland's Community Emergency Response Team will kick off its spring training today in preparation for potential disasters, and space is still available for interested volunteers.
Participants in the training will learn basic functions of CERT, along with how to use a fire extinguisher, disaster medical first aid, and search and rescue. The training serves as an introductory course to becoming a volunteer. Southern Oregon University students can earn college credit for their participation.
Training will conclude with a real-life disaster simulation on Saturday, April 20. During the simulation, trainees will use their learned skills to locate and give medical attention to mock victims.
Today is the last day to register. Call 541-552-2226 for more information.
