Central Point man arrested following early morning car chase

A Central Point man faces several felony charges after allegedly leading police on a car chase that ended in Medford early this morning, Oregon State Police said.

The pursuit began after an OSP trooper attempted to stop a 1994 Honda Accord on Highway 99 at Highway 62 just after midnight. The driver refused to pull over and attempted to speed away from the trooper.

The Honda continued into Medford, where it was disabled by spike strips in the area of East McAndrews Road and Royal Avenue.

The driver, later identified as Cody Rea Ledezma, 24, sprinted from the Honda, leaving behind his two passengers. He was soon captured by officers, OSP said.

Ledezma was found to be in possession of more than four ounces of marijuana and small amounts of methamphetamine and oxycodone, OSP said.

He was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on two counts of attempted to elude police in a vehicle, attempting to elude police on foot, two counts of reckless driving, recklessly endangering another and possession of drugs.

The two passengers, a 24-year-old woman and a 17-year-old girl, were not arrested.
