Downtown streets will close today and Saturday for the Pear Blossom Festival.
Closures start at 6:30 a.m. today to accommodate setting up the street fair at The Commons. Bartlett and Fifth streets, which circle The Commons, will be closed, as will a portion of Sixth Street between Central Avenue and Bartlett, although access to the Middleford parking garage will remain open. This area will reopen to traffic at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Medford police said.
The Pear Blossom Run will close Eighth and Main streets between Fir Street and Columbus Avenue from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. All cross streets will be closed in that stretch, officials said. West Main Street will be closed to westbound traffic between Oakdale Avenue and Hanley Road until the conclusion of the 10K run around 11 a.m. Hanley Road will be closed to Rossanley Drive.
For the parade, Central Avenue will be closed from Beatty Street to Main Street, and Main Street will be closed from Central Avenue to Newtown Street from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. To accommodate traffic rerouted during the parade, Riverside will be a two-way street between Fourth and Main streets.
Streets will close for parade staging at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Those streets will be Court Street between McAndrews Road and Edwards Street; Central Avenue between Highway 238 and Edwards Street; Edwards Street between Beatty and Clark streets; Clark Street between the railroad tracks and Central Avenue; Boardman Street between Alice and Edwards streets; Beatty Street between Edwards Street and Central Avenue; and Manzanita Street between Boardman and Court streets.
