  • Leota May Madsen, 86, of Medford, Ore. passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Medford, Ore. She was born May 20, 1926 in LaJunta, Colo. to her parents, James E. Maxwell and Oma Backus.
    Leota married Donald F. Madsen in Syracuse, Kans. October 25, 1943. She was the mother of eight children. Leota was a wife and homemaker who loved to read, work crossword puzzles, and spend time with her family. She was very involved in her church, where she taught Sunday School, was church treasurer, and much more. Her local church was Medford Neighborhood Church.
    Leota will be remembered by her loving children and their spouses, James and Loraine Madsen, Karen and John House, Lonnie Madsen, Marilyn and Lewis Osborn, Marcie and Ray Geary, Dawn and Mike Scalice, and Kelly and Craig Bratton. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren. Leota was predeceased by her husband Donald Madsen, daughter Debbie Diaz, two granddaughters, and one great-granddaughter.
    Family and friends are invited to attend Leota's memorial service Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Medford Neighborhood Church 1819 W. Stewart Ave.
