Pacific Tire opens wholesale store near Medford airport

Portland-based Pacific Tire Distributors has opened a Medford wholesale location to serve Southern Oregon and Northern California markets.

Owners Chris and Kathy Roberg have acquired a 10,000-square-foot warehouse at 4787 Airway Drive, near the Medford airport. Matt Stocker is the branch manager and Jake DeBoer is the assistant manager. The company anticipates hiring 12 people for the local operation, including its management.

The company is the largest family-owned independent wholesale tire firm in the Pacific Northwest with distribution centers in Portland and Pasco, Wash.

Medford Food Co-op holds annual meeting Thursday

The Annual Meeting of the Medford Food Co-op owner-members and board elections is scheduled at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 18, at the former Scottish Rite Hall, on the southeast corner of East Barnett and North Phoenix roads.

Co-op performance, operations and opportunities will be discussed.

Groups collaborate onnew tourism endeavor

Travel Southern Oregon and the Southern Oregon Winery Association are collaborating in a new partnership.

The groups will combine efforts to extend marketing reach and increase exposure for Southern Oregon as a vacation and wine destination. Carolyn Hill, chief executive officer of Travel Southern Oregon also becomes executive director of the Southern Oregon Winery Association.

"Having a seasoned tourism promotion organization like Travel Southern Oregon assist with our administrative and strategic planning needs allows our winery association board to focus on marketing, on wine, and on the future of the industry," said Ruth Garvin of Cliff Creek Cellars and Winery Association president in a statement. "This solution makes sense from a business perspective as well, and we can leverage our resources and benefit from an economy of scale."

Hill said she looked forward to working with the region's vintners.

"The romance and beauty of wineries and vineyards are tremendous attractions to the region," Hill said. "The upscale demographics of wine enthusiasts ensure that these visitors boost restaurant, hotel and attractions impacts as well."
