An on-duty Jackson County sheriff's deputy was hospitalized in a car crash Thursday night at the intersection of Table Rock and Vilas roads.
The deputy's vehicle struck an on-coming car that suddenly turned in front of him. The car, which was driven by a California woman, ran through a flashing yellow light and into the deputy's path.
The deputy was treated at a hospital and released. The woman was not hurt.
She was cited in the crash and released on her own recognizance. As is protocol with crashes involving members of their department, the sheriff's office turned the investigation over to the Oregon State Police.
