Men's and women's club soccer teams are forming at Rogue Community College with plans to start competitive play in the fall.

The teams will participate in non-league games against eight other community colleges in the Northwest Athletic Association of Community Colleges, including Lane, Chemeketa and Linn-Benton.

The Ospreys' home contests will be played at the Redwood Campus in Grants Pass.

The RCC Board of Education recently approved the formation of the teams for a one-year period, providing an opportunity to measure students' interest in athletics.

Longtime area soccer coach John Timlin will lead the squads and coordinate fundraising.

Participants must be enrolled full-time at RCC and maintain good academic standing.
