  • The Southern Oregon Land Conservancy is beginning a work party program called Weed Whomping Wednesdays, which will work to remove noxious weeds and carry out other land stewardship activities every third Wednesday of the month.
Each work party will spend a half-day removing weeds. The outings also will include education, shared poetry, storytelling and snacks.
The first work party will meet at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, in the parking lot above the Britt Festivals in Jacksonville. Participants will work in the Jacksonville Woodlands removing Himalayan blackberry and Scotch broom. Participants also will walk to a mining interpretive area.
Participants are encouraged to bring long-handled pruners and gloves. Those interested in joining the group should contact Kristi at 541-482-3069 or kristi@landconserve.org.
