  • EAGLE POINT — Eagle Point pitcher McKinzee Merrill tossed a three-hitter and the Eagles' defense turned in one of its best performances of the season in a 10-0, six-inning Class 5A Southern Oregon Hybrid victory over Ashland.
    The Eagles' Emily Jeffries got on base with a single and scored the winning run on a wild pitch to end the game via the 10-run mercy rule in the bottom of the sixth inning.
    Merrill walked just one and forced mostly groundouts. The Eagles improved to 11-7 overall and 2-1 in 5A Southern Oregon Hybrid play.
    Teresa Lehman had two hits — including a double — for the Grizzlies (4-14, 1-2 SOH), who committed seven errors.
