  • SUTHERLIN — Max Davis finished in a three-way tie for medalist honors and the Cascade Christian boys golf team captured first place in the five-team Sutherlin Invitational at Umpqua Golf Resort on Friday.
    Davis' 8-over-par 80 matched efforts by Rogue River's David Murphy and Sutherlin's Tyler Franke. Cascade Christian's Jake Quast was fourth with an 81.
    The Challengers finished with a score of 346. The Chieftains were second (371).

    Austin Sawchuck carded a 92 to lead the Pirates, who shot 414 as a team.
    Newport's Eddie St. Claire was medalist with 11-over 82.
