Jim passed away peacefully in the morning surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born in Fall River, Mass. to Georginna and Manuel, the youngest of six children. Jim married Helen Judd, and the two had three beautiful sons: Steve, Chris, and Brian. Jim left the family dairy business to pursue his collegiate career. In nine short years, he had accomplished his goal, and finished his Doctorate at Syracuse University.
Jim and his family moved to San Jose, Calif. in 1968. He began his teaching career at San Jose State University, where he would become a full professor and after 30 years, he retired as an Emeritus Professor. During his time in San Jose, Jim and Helen divorced and remained close until her death in 2011. Jim met the love of his life, Marty Wright, and the two began their transcontinental adventures, and shared over 35 years of their lives together. Jim and Marty moved to Medford, Ore. in 2004, and enjoyed their retirement on their property with their animals and on the Oregon Coast.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Marty; his sons, Steve (Jan) and Brian (Scotti); his granddaughters, Breanna (Rob), Jessica (Chris), Kimberly (Chris), Amanda, and Shelby; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Chris. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to San Jose State University.
