Geologist Jad D'Allura talks about the formation of the Table Rocks on a hike there.
D'Allura is emeritus professor of geology at Southern Oregon University and he writes the Mail Tribune's The Rocks Speak column. He will talk about the formation of the Table Rocks and the geological features observed along a hike to the top of this ancient lava flow.
The hike and talk begin at 10 a.m. and will go until 3 p.m. Meet at the Upper Table Rock trailhead at Modoc Road off Table Rock Road in Central Point. There is no cost to attend.
Dress for the weather and bring a lunch and water. No drinking water is available on the hike. Restrooms are available at the trail head. No dogs are allowed on the trail.
