Renegades shut out South Lane Buzzards

Keith Fuchs' 35-yard punt return set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Leon Ireland early in the first quarter and Southern Oregon's defense made sure that would be enough as the Renegades beat the South Lane Buzzards 14-0 in a Pacific Football League South Division clash Saturday at Spiegelberg Stadium.

The Renegades (1-1) added another touchdown later in the first quarter when Ireland scooped up a fumble by South Lane's Travis Warren and ran 33 yards to pay dirt.

Southern Oregon quarterback Dillon Lubonski completed 5 of 12 passes for 63 yards.

The Renegades' defense was led by Jordan Frost, who had eight tackles, four for losses. Cody Marsing added five tackles and Gage Jacobson three.

South Lane fell to 1-2.

Southern Oregon next hits the road for a rematch of the 2011 Pacific Football League championship game, next Saturday against the Kitsap County Bears, at Bremerton, Wash.
