More arrests made after burglaries

The Jackson County Sheriff's Department has arrested a third suspect in a string of burglaries and thefts in the Eagle Point area.

Micah James Farley, 26, of Medford, was arrested over the weekend on an unrelated warrant, the department reported Monday in a news release.

Detectives had identified Farley late last week as the third suspect in a series of crimes on Dry Creek Road and Yankee Creek Road, the release said. Monday, investigators added charges of first- and second-degree burglary, first- and second-degree theft and criminal trespassing related to last week's thefts.

Two other Medford residents, Larry Freeman, 44, and Gina Keeler, 49, were arrested last week for their suspected roles in the same crimes.

Freeman was arrested on two counts of first-degree theft, three counts of second-degree theft, two counts of second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, harassment and menacing. Keeler was arrested on charges of second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree theft and second-degree trespassing.

A rancher checking on cattle found Freeman and Keeler with a Dodge Caravan towing a trailer stuck in the middle of a cow pasture on April 15. He also noticed that fencing was missing. Freeman, who was driving the van, reportedly shouted threats, so the cattle owner called 911.

Deputies arrested Freeman and Keeler and recovered fencing, gates, bicycles, a heat pump and a refrigerator that all had been reported stolen in that area on April 15. About $7,000 worth of property was returned to its rightful owners, officials said.
