Rock band Cake will perform Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Britt Pavilion, 350 First St., Jacksonville. Formed in the early '90s as an antagonistic response to the grunge music movement, Cake's music has been noted for its inventive lyrics, deadpan delivery and a wide range of musical influences.
The band's newest album, "Pressure Chief," was called "music that defies simple-minded pop paradigms" by the Los Angeles Times.
Tickets are available to Britt members now. Sales to the general public sales will begin Thursday, May 16, and may be purchased online at www.brittfest.org, by calling 541-773-6077 or 800-882-7488, or at the Britt box office, 216 W. Main St., Medford.
