  • Poems on Medford by 17 Oregon Poetry Association poets will be read by the poets or designated readers from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at the Jackson County Library, 205 S. Central Ave., Medford.
The poems, which deal with Medford's history, ambiance, institutions, remembrances, and community life, will be collected in a book, "OPA Poets Write about Medford," which will be available for purchase at the reading. Former Oregon Poet Laureate Lawson Fusao Inada, a Medford resident, will officiate.
A new documentary on Crater Lake will be shown at 3 p.m. today at Southern Oregon University's Science Building, Room No. 118.
The film, "Crater Lake: Into The Deep," is 22 minutes long, and is narrated by actor Peter Coyote. It discusses the natural wonder's geology, history, plant and animal life, as well as ongoing research at the park. Following the discussion, Marsha McCabe, chief of interpretation and cultural resources for Crater Lake National Park, will answer questions.
The screening is free and open to all.
