OSU's Poyer, Oregon's Barner, Boyett taken on final day of draft

Oregon running back Kenjon Barner, safety John Boyett and Oregon State cornerback Jordan Poyer were selected Saturday on the final day of the NFL draft.

Barner was taken in the sixth round with the 182nd pick overall by the Carolina Panthers. Barner, who will join former Duck Jonathan Stewart on the Panthers roster, rushed for 1,767 yards and 21 touchdowns as a senior last season.

Boyett was chosen in the sixth round with the 192nd pick by the Indianapolis Colts. He played three seasons with the Ducks but missed all but one game last season after undergoing knee surgery.

Poyer was taken 218th overall in the seventh round by the Philadelphia Eagles. The Astoria native was the first Beaver to become a consensus All-American since 1967. In 24 games as a starter with Oregon State, Poyer amassed 151 tackles, three sacks, 13 interceptions and two fumble recoveries.

Overall, the Ducks had five players drafted, with Dion Jordan (third overall), Kyle Long (20th) and Kiko Alonso (46th) being taken in the first two rounds. Poyer was the second Oregon State player, with Markus Wheaton going 79th overall on Friday.
