September 23,1946 - April 28, 2013
Susan fell asleep in death at home Sunday surrounded by her family. She succumbed to the cancer that we had battled for the last two and one-half years. Sue is no longer suffering but rather is now awaiting the resurrection as promised by Jesus as recorded at John 5:28, 29.
Sue married Jim Hummel June 20, 1964 and they were rapidly approaching their 49th anniversary. Besides leaving behind her husband Jim, she leaves their son Steve, his wife, Millie (Hillsboro); her grandson, Christopher James and his wife, Amanda (Boise, Idaho); and her granddaughter, Hannah (Hillsboro). She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Goekler (Wilderville) and Jo Ann Legler and her husband, Randy (Wilderville), who were instrumental in providing loving care for their sister and her husband during this difficult time. She was preceded in death by her parents.
The wonderful people from the Asante Hospice Program were so caring and loving in their support of Sue and her husband, Jim. A million thanks go out to each and every one of them.
As a Jehovah's Witness Sue enjoyed sharing the Bible and the hope for the future with many individuals. She also enjoyed camping with the family and she loved going on cruises, the last one to Alaska.
Those who knew her will miss her contagious smile and laughter. Sue always had such a positive spirit. She has many friends at the Kingdom Hall where she attended as well as many friends whom she worked for as a housekeeper in years past. Most recently Sue was employed for Chris Woody of Medical Management in Central Point. Before she realized how serious her situation was, she tried in vain to go to work. She did so love her workmates and her job. I am sure she will be sorely missed.
Even though she had only one child, she was Mom to many and gramsie to many others.
As her husband, I just can't imagine what it is going to be like without the love of my life. May God's New World come soon where I will again see her in perfect health.
Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m., Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 489 Cheney Loop, Central Point, Ore. Gerald Hajek will officiate.
