WILSONVILLE — Crater, South Medford, North Valley and St. Mary's each had spring squads with the highest GPAs among competing schools in their classifications, the Oregon School Activities Association and the Dairy Farmers of Oregon announced.
St. Mary's also fielded five second-place teams, which was the most among schools in the Rogue Valley.
Several other local squads were honored with Dairy Farmers of Oregon Academic All-State spring awards.
In baseball, North Valley was tops among Class 4A programs with its 3.61 GPA, while Hidden Valley was sixth (3.42) and Phoenix 10th (3.36). At the 5A level, Ashland tied for ninth (3.34). St. Mary's placed second (3.69) and Cascade Christian 10th (3.27) at 3A.
In softball, North Medford came in second (3.70) and Crater tied for ninth (3.46). In 4A, North Valley earned fourth (3.66) and Hidden Valley tied for sixth (3.63) with Phoenix. Rogue River was 10th (3.51) in 3A.
In 6A boys golf, Crater claimed first (3.80). Ashland was eighth (3.53) at 5A, while North Valley took second (3.79) and Phoenix tied for ninth (3.36) in 4A. Cascade Christian tied for second (3.65) and St. Mary's fourth (3.62) in 3A/2A/1A.
In girls golf, North Medford place fifth (3.77) in 6A and St. Mary's third (3.80) at 4A/3A/2A/1A.
The North Medford boys tennis team secured second (3.74) at the 6A level and St. Mary's tied for second (3.69) in 4A/3A/2A/1A. On the girls side, North Medford tied for 10th (3.71) in 6A and St. Mary's fourth (3.78) in 4A/3A/2A/1A.
In boys track, 6A North Medford was fifth (3.48). North Valley was eighth (3.41) and Hidden Valley 10th (3.38) in 4A and St. Mary's took second (3.64) in 3A.
North Medford was eighth (3.65) in 6A girls track and St. Mary's second (3.80) at 3A.
In choir, Eagle Point tied for ninth (3.37) in 5A, North Valley was first in 4A (3.57) and St. Mary's second (3.67) at 3A.
South Medford's orchestra team recorded the best GPA among all high schools with its 3.90. North Medford was second (3.78) among 6A schools and Grants Pass eighth (3.59). In 5A, Ashland was 10th (3.21) and St. Mary's earned first (3.73) in 3A.
