  • Leon L. Evans, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, May 1, 2013. He was born September 16, 1922 in Loveland Colo. He served in World War II and earned a Purple Heart, a Silver Star, and a Bronze Star.
    He was the longtime owner of Eads Transfer and Furniture, a company he was very proud to pass on to his grandson. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church where for many years he taught the high school-age Sunday school classes.
    He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Doris; daughter, Christine Helfrich; grandson Brett Helfrich (wife Trina); and his great-grandchildren, Ashtyn, Avery, Ryder, and Savannah. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
    A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2013 at Siskiyou Memorial Park in Medford. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you donate to your choice of veterans' support organizations.
