  • Authorities say an identity theft ring operating out of Medford stole mail from some 800 mailboxes that included checks, credit cards and confidential information such as Social Security numbers.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Friday that two of the people — Eduardo Navarro and Dallas Tedford — are in custody and warrants have been issued for the arrest of the three others — Robert Powelson, Kayla Strange and Lana Marshall.
A federal grand jury in Medford handed up an indictment against the five people — all Medford residents — on Thursday.
The indictment alleges that the mailbox thefts went back to Nov. 29, 2012, and continued through January of this year.
The five people face charges of mail theft, aggravated identity theft, bank fraud, and conspiracy.
