Raiders claim titles at Pacific Twilight

FOREST GROVE — Mikayla Garrard posted a career-best time to earn an NAIA qualifier in the 400-meter dash and lead a trio of event winners for Southern Oregon to conclude the 2013 outdoor track and field regular season at the Pacific Boxer Twilight on Saturday.

Garrard hit a provisional NAIA qualifying time in the 400 to place first in the event with a personal record time of 57.01. The mark is one-hundredth of a second off the automatic qualifier. Trevor Lynn won the men's steeplechase with a time of 9:35.52, while Cary Dunagan placed second and Tyler VanDyke finished fifth.

Sam Hartinger won the triple jump with a mark of 46-2 and placed fourth in the high jump with a mark of 6-4 3/4. Jessie Rozario placed second in the women's steeplechase, while Nathan Normo finished sixth in the men's 1500. All nine of the Raiders' marks at the event qualified for the Cascade Collegiate Conference championships, with Peter Stice hitting the qualifier in the 800 for the first time this season.

Southern Oregon returns to action Friday when the Raiders will travel to Gresham for the 2013 CCC Championships.
