  • Nine Rogue Valley restaurants have pledged to donate a portion of their proceeds from Wednesday, May 15, to the Rogue Valley SMART program.
    Participating Medford restaurants are Asian Grill, 1200 Biddle Road in the Blue Sky Plaza; Bambu, 970 N. Phoenix Road; and Wild River Brewing & Pizza, 2684 N. Pacific Highway.
    Other participants include Greenleaf Restaurant, 49 N. Main St., Ashland; The Palms Cafe, 501 S. Front St., Central Point; Baci's Pizza, 510 E. Main St., Rogue River; The Grotto, 302 E. Main St., Talent; and Wild River Brewing & Pizza at 595 N.E. E St., Grants Pass and 249 N. Redwood Highway, Cave Junction.
    SMART (Start Making A Reader Today) matches volunteer readers with students in kindergarten through third grade. In the current school year, more than 600 Rogue Valley volunteers have read with about 1,000 local students.
